Profile

Since I was a child I was lucky that both my brother Nacho, in Malaga, and my uncle Jose Miguel, in Algeciras, had the best bars and clubs in the area, so I was able to combine my time at the bar at weekends with my studies and earn a few bucks, and so I started to fool around with the cocktail bar.

Years later, I began to read and meet reputed people in the industry, such as Alberto Pizarro, and even Ferran Adriá encouraged me to bring to the cocktail bar little to little what he does in the kitchen, “with all due respect to the magician”.

Strengths

I think my strength is my love for what I do, my perseverance and my desire to learn more and more every day.

At the present time

The Garden (La Terraza) is a privileged place for its view and location in the area. It has 5 bars, one of which I “work” with my Mixology Corner.

There is party and ambience every day, with its large terrace and table service, but the COVID and its restrictions forced us to close in the middle of August. We hope to be able to open in April 2021 if the pandemic improves, so that we can all enjoy it.

Hobbies

Sailing, regattas, the sea, kayaking, paddle surfing, surfing, biking, hiking, rollerblading, skateboarding.

The anecdote

Julio Iglesias at a concert in Andalusia, asked for a mixologist for the VIP lounge, and when he tasted my Mojito he told me that in 30 years in Miami he had never tasted a better Mojito.

The future of cocktail making

Classic cocktails fused with Mixology, and the creativity of each Bartender with a strong presence of Vermouth. The gin remains the same but the whisky is going up.

A tip

Someone told me one day: fight for your dreams whatever it takes, they will put obstacles in your way, they will also help you, but never forget to be yourself and remember that, in order to achieve your goals, you always have to improve.
